Goals and check-ins Free plan

Goals you actually check in on

Set goals in B3 with a reason, a reward and a check-in rhythm from daily to yearly. B3 shows each goal as on track or off track and charts your progress.

  • Six check-in rhythms, from daily to once a year
  • Number goals with a target, or yes/no check-in goals
  • On track or off track, worked out for you
  • Progress charts, likes and comments

Believe: write it down properly

A goal in B3 is more than a title. When you add one, B3 asks how you’ll know you’ve achieved it, and then three questions that make a goal stick:

  • What will some of the benefits be?
  • How will you reward yourself when you get there?
  • What consequence will you impose on yourself if you don’t?

You also set a due date and time, a reminder, who the goal is assigned to and who approves it. Both are you by default, or you can pick any of your supporters.

Choose how you’ll measure it

  • Number goals. Set a target, such as “2.5 liters a day” or “save 10,000”, and say whether being above the line is good or bad, so “spend less than” works too. Log a record whenever you like, one per day. Each record remembers the target it was measured against.
  • Check-in goals. Each period B3 asks one question: Are you on track? Answer yes or no, and add a note of up to 250 characters about what happened.

Check in on your rhythm

Every goal has a check-in rhythm: daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, twice a year or yearly. A CHECK-IN badge appears when the current period’s check-in is due. Once a day, at the hour you choose (6 pm unless you change it), B3 sends one reminder listing the goals still waiting. It stops as soon as you’ve logged your progress.

See where you stand

  • On track or off track. B3 works this out from your latest record or check-in, and the dashboard counts both.
  • Goal progress. Chart your target against your actual numbers as a line or bar chart over any date range. You can also scroll the full history of check-ins and records.
  • Linked actions. Each goal card shows how many of its actions are done, for example “10/15”.
  • Encouragement. Supporters you’ve shared a goal with can like it and comment on it.

When a goal is done, mark it complete, or send it for approval if someone else signs it off. You can also archive a goal. Archiving never touches the actions linked to it.

Questions about Goals

How often can I check in on a goal?

You choose one of six rhythms for each goal — daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, twice a year or yearly. B3 reminds you once a day, at an hour you pick, about goals that haven't had a check-in this period.

What's the difference between a number goal and a check-in goal?

A number goal has a target, such as 8 hours of sleep or 12 books, and you log the actual number. You also choose whether above the target is good or bad. A check-in goal asks one question each period, "Are you on track?", and you answer yes or no with an optional note.

How does B3 decide whether a goal is on track?

Your latest record, compared with the target, or your latest check-in decides. A goal that is past its due date is off track. A new goal with no data yet counts as on track.
